The Spanish Association of e-Learning Suppliers (APeL), with the support of Red.es, public corporate entity attached to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, which is responsible for promoting the development of the Information Society in Spain, and ICEX, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, convened a trade mission and technical conference for the e-learning sector in Bogota, Colombia, last June. The event consisted of a personalized agenda of meetings with local entities of interest and a networking cocktail party in which companies were able to meet, more informally, with potential customers and local partners. Our Country Manager in Mexico, Rodrigo López, travelled to Bogota to see firsthand the growing interest of Colombia for new technologies in training, both in educational institutions and in the corporate sector, which has increased by 165% from 2010 to 2013 in this country where there are currently over 70 companies, domestic, foreign and mixed, offering these services. The Ministry of Information Communications and Technologies of Colombia is driving the Vive Digital (Live Digital) plan, which seeks the proliferation of Internet use in the coming years in order to generate new employment opportunities and wealth. To achieve this, the Plan promotes the country’s digital ecosystem comprised of four major components: Infrastructure, Services, Applications and Users.
